Overview

StrandNotes is a hair formula capture app built for professional stylists. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. We collect only what is necessary to provide the service and never sell your information.

Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address for authentication via a one-time code. No password is stored.

Profile information. If you choose to complete your profile, we store your stylist name, salon name, phone number, and city or location. This information is used to personalise your formula share cards.

Formula and client data. We store the hair formulas you capture and the client records you create, including hair history and any notes you enter. Photos you attach to formulas or client records are stored securely.

Share cards. When you share a formula or aftercare card, the card content is stored temporarily on our servers to generate a shareable link.

Voice input. When you use Siri to log a formula, your voice is processed by Apple on-device or via Apple's servers under Apple's privacy policy. StrandNotes only receives the transcribed text.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide and improve StrandNotes:

• To sync your formulas and client records across your devices
• To personalise share cards with your salon name
• To send you a one-time authentication code when you sign in
• To improve the accuracy of our AI formula extraction

Third-Party Services

Supabase — We use Supabase to store your account, profile, formula, and client data securely. Supabase servers are located in the United States.

Google Gemini — When you capture a formula by voice or image, the transcript or photo is sent to Google's Gemini API to extract structured formula data. Google's privacy policy applies to this processing.

Apple — Voice capture via Siri uses Apple's App Intents framework. Apple's privacy policy governs voice processing.

Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at hello@strandnotes.app. Share cards expire automatically after 90 days.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@strandnotes.app.

Children

StrandNotes is intended for professional use by adults aged 17 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the effective date above. Continued use of StrandNotes after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
